Buying your first home can be an exciting and stressful experience. Finding the right house at the right price in the Windsor Real Estate market is daunting enough without thinking about finding an agent and dealing with parents and in-laws, but these are all factors in the home buying process.
After the harrowing experience of interviewing real estate agents, my fiancé and I found one we clicked with and agreed to do business with him. We went out every weekend for a month, looking at more than 50 Windsor houses for sale before we found ours. Friends told me stories of found they found their house in the first couple Windsor homes for sale they went to and knew as soon as they walked in that it was "the one." They didn't even browse the Windsor Real Estate Listings. Fifty homes for sale in Windsor later and we were still without this spiritual epiphany. When we did find our home there was no eureka moment, but loved it: it suited us and our needs and plans, there was very minimal work to be done, it was in a good neighbourhood, and the price was do-able.
It's important to be patient and not rush in to anything. You may find your new home in the first day of looking or it could take weeks or months. You may find it yourself on the MLS Listings Windsor Essex County, but having an agent working for you keeps you from feeling overwhelmed with the selection out there. While I still scoured the Windsor Real Estate MLS every night, our agent was able to select the Windsor properties for sale that best suited us.
If you're moving out of your parents' house into your first home, it is courteous to involve them in the process. Ask for their opinions, but also form your own. Remember-you'll be living there, not your parents, but respect that they have been through this process before and will have valuable information for you. Don't let them pressure you.
Although it's not always the case, sometimes the sellers will be at the house while you're looking through it. It's uncomfortable at best when the sellers are quietly watching TV, but pull-your-hair out obnoxious when they follow you around like a pushy salesman. Don't give into their pressure, either.
Don't be afraid to look at houses for sale in Windsor that are on the higher end or even slightly out of your ideal price range. You may find sellers willing to go down in price, especially if the house has been on the market for a while or if they're eager to move into a new house soon.
On the other hand, don't be afraid of bank repos, either. We saw some frightening bank repos with questionable handiwork done throughout, but we also saw Windsor Essex County Homes that needed only a moderate amount of TLC to become beautiful and net the buyers a bigger profit when they're ready to sell themselves.
All that searching on the Windsor MLS finally paid off and we will be moving into our first home at the end of March. Stay tuned for part two to learn more about our experience with Windsor Ontario Real Estate.
